If you are considering adding drapes to your home, here is a step-by-step guide on how to install them.
- First you must measure your window and find the exact size.
- Place your curtain rod over the top of the window and make sure it is centered.
- Then, measure down from the rod to the floor to get your length measurement as well as up to where you want your drapes to hang from your rod (this will be where they attach). Use a piece of string or tape measure to mark this measurement and then cut a piece of fabric equal in length (we recommend using a width that is at least four times longer than the width of your curtain rod).
- Measure both sides and make sure they are equal in length, if they are not adjust accordingly until they are even on both sides of each other.
- If you are using a pinch pleat, you will use the seam to fold down the top of your fabric that is in an “inside out” position (meaning it is folded over itself and not facing the same direction as it usually would). Then, fold each side over again and sew both sides together to make sure they stay secure.
- Attach Velcro or buttons on each side for the closure of your drape.
- Hang them up proudly.
