How Do You Mix Crystal-Clear Epoxy Resin?
Mixing epoxy resin is fairly simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure optimal results. The ratio of resin to hardener should be 1:1 by liquid volume, or 100 parts resin to 83 parts hardener by weight.
Once the two ingredients are measured, pour them into a large, clean, dry, smooth-sided mixing cup. Stir the two together for a minimum of three minutes, making sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the cup to ensure that all of the resin is thoroughly mixed with the hardener.
Once the mixture has been stirred, let it sit for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow the resin to gain its full viscosity. When ready, brush a bead of epoxy resin onto any surface or item that will be decorated.
For example, if shaping with a brush, you will want to apply a small amount at the steering wheel’s base and move up in horizontal and vertical lines until you have enough material to cover it completely.
If shaping from sticks and other shapes, you will want to apply it bit by bit until it is covered entirely with epoxy resin and hardener.
