How Do You Replace Blinds On A Pella Window?

If you’ve got a Pella window and you want to replace the blinds, here’s how to do it:

  1. Measure the width and height of the window and find the appropriate blinds-the Pella windows are usually pretty standard sizes for their style. Make a note of the distance from the top of the window to the bottom and from left to right. Get a new blind set that best fits your needs and install it. Do note that you may need a professional if your Pella window is anything but standard in size or style.
  1. Open the blinds and measure the width and height of the opening: you want the blind to be a shade smaller than it is to stay in alignment with the window. Unless you’re good with math, this is unnecessary for Pella windows, but you should measure any larger windows. Purchase blinds from your local hardware store or online. Pella windows come with two sets of blinds: a short set (for when it’s sunny or windy) and a long set (for when it’s dark).
  1. Compare the measurements to the dimensions of the new blinds:
  2. The width of the blind should be the same as the width of the window, which is used to calculate its size.
  3. The full height of a single shade should be around 1/2-1 inch smaller than the window opening.
  4. The full height of a double shade should be around 1 inch smaller than the window opening and can stay at this size since it will fold in half (in Pella windows).
  5. If the new blinds are too wide or too tall, adjust the measurements accordingly: a. Take in the width by 1/2-1 inch, which will shorten the length of the blind. If it’s too short, take some length out of the height, which will shorten the width.
  6. Cut the new blinds to the correct dimensions: with the blinds folded in half, find the center of one side and measure to the other: make sure these distances are the same. If not, find a new set of blinds that fit these lengths and cut them accordingly (or buy a new set).
  7. Hook the blinds up to the window using the mounting brackets: a. Measure the top of the blinds and make sure they’re the same height as the wall. If you like, you can use brackets to mount them up higher to create a window box.

7. Close the window and enjoy your new blinds: If you have a double blind, be sure to flip the left and right sides so the slats match up
