How To Repair Garage Floor Concrete Damage Near The Apron?

When you discover concrete deterioration along the apron of your garage, it may be a major issue.

The area is frequently utilized to transport automobiles in and out, thus, it must be in good shape. Furthermore, if the damage is not repaired, it can soon spread and cause additional damage to your garage floor.

There are several methods for repairing garage floor apron concrete damage;

Concrete Repairs

If the damage is not too severe, concrete patches can be used to restore it swiftly and cheaply.

Simply combine the material with water and a putty knife to make a thick paste that can be applied with a trowel or an old paintbrush.

Allow it to dry hard to cling to the surface after pressing it down.

Resin Epoxy

If the damage is severe, the epoxy resin may be required. This is a more thorough repair procedure, but the results will be more long-lasting.

First, clean the area with acetone to eliminate debris or oils that may interfere with the glue. Then, combine resin and water in an applicator bottle until it resembles syrup.

Apply the epoxy to the injured area with a plastic spreader or your fingers, pressing firmly for half an hour to ensure good adhesion.

After letting it cure overnight (or for at least 12 hours), smooth down the area using fine-grit sandpaper such as #100 grit or #150 grit until you obtain the desired surface quality.

Coatings on the Surface

If neither of these two methods works for you, consider adding a coating to the top of your garage floor.

First, use a wire brush to clear up cracks and vacuum the dust. Then, according to the package specifications, combine a quart of concrete resurfacer with water and pour it into a paint roller tray.

Apply the resurfacer to the damaged area with a smooth roller and let it dry for 24 hours. You may need to apply two or three coats to achieve the desired effect.

Whatever choice you select, address the issue as quickly as possible to avoid more harm. And, if you’re not comfortable completing the repairs yourself, get a professional to do the job correctly.
