The back of a window air conditioner is called a Condenser coil. This is the part of the unit that has coils that absorb heat and convert it into mechanical energy through a motor. In these heat exchangers, the mechanical energy literally turns cold into hot. This happens when you put up your window in hot weather.

The condenser coils are located in the refrigeration section of a window air conditioner and are made of copper tubes made from recycled discarded beverage cans. The heat from your room cools down these coils and makes them cold.

Also, building codes state that interior doors cannot be used in fire escapes without meeting certain requirements for both strength and fire resistance and this would also be a concern when installing an AC unit inside a fire escape door
