Does Gila Window Film Really Work?

Yes, it is an excellent product. The film is fantastic! It’s a little tricky to apply, but once you’ve finished a few windows, you’ll quickly have a good process going for the rest. I’ve had the film installed for a year with no problems or visible damage to the windows.

The film is extremely effective at UV & heat protection. It’s actually difficult to tell where the film ends and the window glass begins. The film is practically invisible when looking through the windows while they’re closed, and you can barely tell it’s there from the outside.

The film also keeps our house considerably cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. In particular, our upstairs bedrooms stay at a comfortable temperature all year round and no longer need additional space/kW heaters to keep them warm at night.

The film also reduces the amount of direct sun passing through the windows, which makes our home more comfortable. The look of the films is good, and it would be hard for someone to notice that you have film on your windows unless they get very close – about a foot away from the window.

The films do not seem to adhere to any other surfaces around the edges of my windows; it appears as though all air pockets in between are there permanently (at least after one year).

My only complaint is that due to their high sensitivity to UV light, 3M films only come in white color. This is not a product flaw, but it is a design flaw in my opinion. I wish there were more colors available; the white paint can be installed over the film, but it’s difficult to match exactly with all paints.

Does UV Window Film Work?

Yes. UV window film, in fact, rejects 99.9% of UV rays. Other sun control window films will do the same thing while rejecting 97% of IR rays. As a result, the interior of your building will be cooler and more secure. With the sun’s heat and UV rays no longer entering your home, your home climate will improve.

If you have a pool or spa in your backyard, you’ll be able to enjoy them more often because there will be less of a chance for algae blooms from hot outdoor water. The film works by allowing visible light through but rejecting harmful UV and IR rays.

Your windows will look clear and clean. But, this is where it gets interesting. Since the film does not reject all visible light, your windows will seem clearer than ever before and customers walking past your storefront might think that you’ve replaced old windows with new ones.

I put UV window film on all my windows before the 2-year warranty expired. UV Window Film has been proven to prolong the life of the glass. The film is made to block 100% of the harmful UVA & visible light while still allowing the maximum amount of light in by taking away from your home’s ability to reflect heat back into your house.

UV / Ultraviolet Window Film used for commercial applications and residential applications is a direct replacement for the standard vinyl window glazing materials that were used decades ago. UVA-A and UVA-B rays are produced by sun, lamps and fluorescent lamps, shadings and artificial lighting, etc.

These harmful rays have been proven damaging to human skin, eyes, and even plants over time. UV / Ultraviolet Window Film allows light to pass through but blocks out 99.9% of UVA & UVB light rays.

Does Window Film Really Reduce Heat?

Yes. The film is extremely effective at rejecting heat and solar radiation. You’ll be amazed to see that the difference in an ambient temperature between your home and the surrounding environment will be much less noticeable. Outdoor temperatures are a concern for many homeowners.

The films work by allowing visible light through but rejecting harmful infrared and ultraviolet rays. Your windows will look clear and clean. But you’ll be pleasantly surprised that since the films block 99% of infrared light, your home will seem cooler than ever before with no loss of privacy or light.

The film reduces heat from the sun and allows me to use our wood-burning fireplace more often. Likewise, I can now close the windows during a cold winter day without worrying about feeling the draft from outside or letting in too much heat.

The films work as described, but you should be careful about what gets installed on your glass. For example, we have many older homes with large windows facing south or west which receive direct sunlight all day long through the spring and summer months.

It’s true that you will not feel the heat of the sun through the window. In fact, the windows are so effective at protecting your home from solar radiation, it will be difficult to tell that they are there. This is because you’ll be able to enjoy cool shade without feeling cold air from outside blowing in, or the hot sun beating down on your skin or furniture.

UV/Ultraviolet Window Film is used for commercial applications and residential applications and is a direct replacement for the standard vinyl window glazing materials that were used decades ago. UVA-A and UVA-B rays are produced by the sun, lamps, shadings and artificial lighting, etc.
