What is Plum Concrete

The plum concrete can be defined as a mixture of cement and coarse aggregate that are placed below the footing or foundation of a structure to achieve a well-leveled surface for the equal spread of load.

The term plum basically means large stones or rocks which are termed as coarse aggregates or boulders. This plum concrete is usually a very economical variation of mass concrete.

Plum concrete is most preferred when the required thickness of Plain Cement Concrete is large. Plum concrete is mainly used below the structure foundations where is a steep slope or slope of the strata.

What is Plain Cement Concrete (PCC)?

Plain cement concrete (PCC)  can be defined as a mixture of cement, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregate (sand).

Plain cement concrete (PCC) is commonly used to provide a rigid impervious bed to Reinforced Cement Concrete in the foundation where the earth is soft and not stable. Plain cement concrete (PCC) can be used over brick flat soling or without brick flat soling.

 

Materials used for producing Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) :

Cement: we generally use Portland cement as a bonding material in Plain cement concrete (PCC).

Fine Aggregate: Sand is used as a fine aggregate. The FM of sand should be 1.2 to 1.5.

Coarse Aggregate: We normally use brick chips for producing Plain cement concrete (PCC). Stone chips can also be used for this purpose
