What Are Faux Wood Window Blinds?
What Are Faux Wood Window Blinds?
Faux wood blinds are made of composite wood material or PVC/vinyl material. Both wood and faux blinds have slats, but faux wood blinds have slats with a wood core that is coated with a high-tech polymer (composite), or the slats are entirely made of vinyl/PVC.
Faux wood blinds look very similar to real wood blinds in both appearance and texture. However, they are less expensive than real wooden blinds and they are also more lightweight. In addition, their smooth surface means they require less maintenance.
The choice is yours, but we don’t recommend you go for the real thing unless you have a lot of money to spare, and then only because of the natural benefits of using real wood, especially in humid areas like the bathroom or kitchen.
Wood or faux wood? It’s best to consider your decor when deciding which one to go for. If you want something more subtle, go for the faux wood. If you want something that stands out and is a little more rustic, then the real thing is your best choice.
There’s no right or wrong with choosing faux wood blinds because they are an excellent choice if you like the look of real wood blinds but you don’t have the budget to get them (at least not now).
In addition, these blinds are an excellent choice for kitchens and bathrooms where dampness can easily damage wooden blinds. You definitely do not want to store your wooden curtains in such rooms when it comes to maintaining their appearance. Faux wood blinds are available in styles intended for vertical use or horizontal use.
