Interlocking Bricks or Blocks: Modern way of building cheaply.
Building your rural home need not to be expensive especially with emergence of many new construction technologies meant to bring down construction cost. Sand, cement and stones are the major cost drivers in construction adding to high labor cost. Interlocking blocks however brings these major cost down. The amount of cement , sand used and time can be kept to a minimum when you opt for an interlock brick house. This technology is said to cuts the total construction cost by upto 30% of the total costs. So,what are these interlocking bricks?
What is interlocking bricks /blocks?
Interlocking blocks are like 2 adjoining pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Each block has a projection at one end and a depression at the other. The projection of one block fits in to the depression of the next so that they always align perfectly.

Interlock bricks are made by mixing late-rite stone powder, cement and gravel. 50 kilograms of cement you can help you make around 50 interlock bricks. The making of these are completely eco-friendly. The bricks are made with a 4000 kilograms of compress and hence there need not be any apprehensions regarding the strength and sturdiness of these bricks.
Difference between normal bricks and interlocking bricks?
The major difference are
- Interlocking bricks are not baked, it is just mud in high density pressed using a pressing machine and allowed to solidify by drying naturally. Some chemicals are added for increasing the bond strength. Normal bricks are the ones baked.
- Size of interlocking brick is more. Approximately it is 2.5 times more in volume than the baked bricks. (size is 10″ x 8″ x 4″)
- Weight of Interlocking bricks is more than equivalent volume of baked bricks.

1.Concrete Interlocking Bricks
The Interlocking soil compressed bricks mainly used as environment friendly materials and most modern building technologies. The room temperature is kept cool as they are thermally radiant.
